Campus Life
Just as at a U.S. residential university, you’ll live on campus with Americans. But unlike most campuses in the United States, most students at AUBG are from abroad. AUBG’s residence halls are extraordinary international communities, and you will live and work with Americans, Europeans, Russians, Armenians, Azerbaijanis, Kazakhs, and students from nearly 40 countries around the world. You will live and study with people who come from very different cultural, religious, and political backgrounds. The international living environment provides AUBG students with a learning experience that cannot be duplicated in the classroom.
AUBG’s diversity makes the campus experience more interesting and more dynamic than at the typical American campus. But it also provides our students with experiences that prepare them to work in an increasingly interconnected world. That’s one of the reasons that AUBG graduates are in such demand by international corporations and organizations.

“American students who come to AUBG for a brief exchange or as full-time students quickly see that AUBG’s facilities, student life, and general nature are familiar — like what they left behind in the United States. At the same time, the university is a mix of nationalities and experiences that make it a unique community.”
— Political Science Professor Robert Phillips
At AUBG, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are not separate from the core learning activities, but an essential part of the campus experience. Like many U.S. campuses, AUBG offers a full range of athletic opportunities, including football, basketball, baseball, boxing, tennis—even American football. Many students participate in the student-run campus media, including Radio Aura and three independent news and feature publications. Whether your interests are in the performing arts, cooking, climbing, riding, debate, dance, or community service, AUBG offers a club to match your interest.
Study Abroad
In order to give our students the full taste of the U.S. educational experience we make it possible for every AUBG students to spend a semester or a year abroad at anyone of more than 150 American colleges and universities, with which we have exchange programs. Because you pay your tuition to AUBG, but can go to the U.S., these opportunities are affordable.

“While studying abroad at the University of Vermont, I took part in a program for training future officers of the U.S. Army called ROTC. This was a unique experience, as I could not combine university studies with officer training anywhere else. I am glad AUBG makes it so easy for its students to attend exchange programs in the U.S., as this is a unique learning experience.”
— Svetozar Dimitrov, Class of 2008
Work and Travel in the U.S.
Most AUBG students also participate in the Work-Travel program, a summer experience sponsored by the U.S. State Department that offers our students an opportunity to live and work in the United States—and at the same time to earn money for their AUBG educational expenses. The Work and Travel Program provides all AUBG students with an opportunity to live in places like Provincetown or Boston or Martha’s Vineyard. Many students find that the Work-Travel experience also makes it possible for them to earn the full cost of their AUBG education during the summer months.
